It is only at the popular Breckenridge Ski Resort where boarders and skiers are brought to Peak 8, which is higher than 12,800 feet via a chair lift that is the highest in North America. Peak 8 can be reached in less than three minutes. At Peak 8, visitors can see the unmatched view of the mountain town of Breckenridge, Quandry Peak Baldy Mountain, Lake Dillon and the Ten Mile Range.
Enjoy a dog sled ride. If you visit Breckenridge during winter, see to it that your “to do” list includes dog sledding. While there is no question on the thrill that the ride provides, you can not miss the dazzling beauty of the view through the Swan River or the Middle Fork.
Go for a ride. A visit to Breckenridge during the warmer months should include a ride in a hot air balloon. Up there at 9,000 feet and higher, the spectacular view spanning a hundred miles is just awesome. While you are held speechless by the surrounding beauty of the Continental Divide and some of the fourteeners, take the time for some wildlife observation as your balloon ride brings you closer to some of the peaks.
Explore a mine. Historical evidences that Breckenridge was a premier mining town in Colorado are still in existence. In fact, Country Boy Mine offers guided tours to a real gold mine more than 1000 feet underground. The tours provide the guests with an educational tour of the history of Breckenridge.
