Organising Dreamweaver In-house Training

Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 is a wonderful environment for developing web content. If you have invested in this sophisticated piece of software, it makes sense to ensure that your staff knows how to use it effectively. Having allowed them a week or two to play with the package and go through the tutorials it contains, you will probably want to get them trained. Tutor-led software training has the benefit that delegates are able to ask questions as they learn and have complex concepts explained and demonstrated to them until they fully understand them.

Adobe Acrobat Bookmarks

When we run courses on Adobe Acrobat in London, one of the first topics we cover is the use of bookmarks. Almost everyone agrees that PDFs are a great thing but they can sometimes be rather difficult and tedious to navigate. That’s where bookmarks come in handy: they are clickable headings which link to specific parts of the PDF document and enable you to get around a lot faster than scrolling or moving one page at a time.

Using the Quick Access Toolbar in Microsoft Word 2007

One of the most recognisable elements within the interface of Microsoft Word 2003 was the toolbars. There were an awful lot of them, each offering a series of features on a related topic. With the launch of Word 2007, toolbars are no more. To some extent, their place has been taken by the Ribbon. However, there is another element in the Word 2007 interface which perhaps resembles toolbars even more: the Quick Access Toolbar.

Using The Microsoft Word 2007 Ribbon

The ribbon is the most important element in the Microsoft Word interface. It contains the vast majority of the commands that the program has to offer. These commands are arranged in a series of tabs. To activate a particular tab, simply click on its name. The commands displayed in each tab are related in some way. For example, the commands in the Home tab are those which are most frequently used in Microsoft Word: commands such as Cut, Copy And Paste and commands for changing the character and paragraph attributes of your text.

Quick Print and Print Preview in Microsoft Excel

Excel’s Quick Print feature allows you to send a document to the default printer without the need of entering values in a dialog box. If the Quick Print button is not already visible on your Quick Access Toolbar, simply choose it from the Customise Quick Access Toolbar drop-down menu. You will notice that the tooltip which pops up when you position the mouse over the Quick Print button has the name of the default printer in brackets. If the printer shown is not the one you anticipated, you can simply use the regular Print command instead.
