Burlesque Halloween Costume
So have you been dreading the decision of what to be for Halloween like I have? So many choices, so little time. I’ve been everything before. You name it and I’ve been it: the cheerleader, the devil, the angel, the schoolgirl, the nurse. From Florence Nightingale to the devil’s temptress, I’ve been it all. And I’m tired of opening up the old college trunk in my closet and recycling outdated costumes from ten years ago. I want something new, something fresh.
That’s where burlesque Halloween costumes come in. A friend introduced me to the sultry world of burlesque earlier this summer. The sexy aura captured me immediately. The room was dark and the lighting perfect. Music began to play. Shadows danced atop the stage and onto the walls.
As I sat there holding my breath, my shy friend with a similar body type to mine (overweight with a peculiar resemblance to a pear) stepped up on the stage dressed in a sexy 1950’s striptease outfit. As she started to dance, I began to imagine myself up there letting go. It was so strange, almost as if I had transported myself into another world, another time. Mesmerized by the moment, I sat there and watched my shy friend transform herself into a sexy, confident woman proud to celebrate her body. I was so entranced by this onstage liberation that I, the shyest girl in the world, am considering joining her burlesque troupe this winter.
With that said, my introduction to the performing side will be this Halloween when I become a burlesque babe for the first time. I recently bought a great costume online and can’t wait for it to show up on my front porch so I can put it on and practice my dance in front of the mirror!
