How To Build Endurance For Running
If you are anything like me, then you probably really enjoy running (and cardio in general). Running is an excellent way to stay fit and healthy, and is fun because you get to go literally anywhere you want while doing it. However, you will definitely need a certain level of endurance in order to maintain a steady pace. But do not worry; it is not all that difficult to increase your endurance.
When you first start running (or simply trying to increase your stamina), you should try running an extra 1/4 of a mile, when you are ready to finish your jog. Going this extra distance really helps with improving your over-all endurance level. Try this for just 2 weeks and you are very likely to notice a big difference.
Another effective strategy is to add in an extra day of running per week. You should already be running at least once per week (preferably two). Adding on that one extra day can really make a very big difference when it comes to building endurance. Basically the more often you do cardio related exercise, the faster you build endurance.
Another thing to consider is to try some fun alternatives to running. There any many fun outdoor games and sports that are great for building endurance for running. One example is the somewhat new (and very popular) sport known as airsoft. In this game you will almost ALWAYS be running, since you will be shooting at (and getting shot at by) other opponents using non-lethalairsoft rifles, which fire plastic airsoft BBs. This is just one of the many actual FUN ways that you can build up your endurance level.
One more suggestion is to try interval training. This can be in the form of sprinting, running up hill, or even running downhill (this is actually a lot more work than most people realize, and will also work a different group of leg muscles). Most people do not see interval training as effective for building endurance, since it takes very little time (but requires a LOT of energy). Interval training definitely increases endurance though, and also increases your leg strength as well. This will indirectly increase your endurance for running.
