How To Comment on Blogs The Right Way!

Blog commenting can make a pretty big difference in helping you connect to your readers. Apparently, 90% of the newbies relate blog commenting to simply spamming. They go so far as to write a generic, crappy comment on someones blog in order to get a link. It is actually laughable to see how much effort people put into leaving mass-created junk comments on websites, hoping that they would get past Akismet.

The thing which is more interesting is that the links (URLs) in the spammy comments never point to a valid internet resource. Instead, most of the links give you a 404 error, either because the spam bot changes the URLs while posting, or that there are bugs in the spam script itself.

For people who think blog commenting is one of the easiest ways to get traffic and links, your reasoning is flawed. I have never heard of anyone who has used blog commenting as his main form of traffic generation.

Blog commenting is used mainly to get your audiences attention in order to portray yourself a leader in your niche. Once you are viewed as the expert in a certain niche, selling to your customers gets a lot easier.

Although blog commenting can be helpful, there is a catch to it: Your comments should be valuable/productive and insightful. If they are not, your comments will not be productive towards your needs. If you post a generic comment such as the one below:

Very nice post! I really adored it! I will come back to this website again!

in the hopes of getting a quick backlink, your efforts will not be fruitful. I have had many of these kind of comments posted on my blog and I really do not find any reason to accept them. Same goes for other webmasters.

So if you want to comment on blogs, make sure you do the following:

1. Only comment on established blogs related to your market.

2. If you have nothing good to say, dont say anything. You will save precious time.

3. Only provide useful comments, which show that you know at least something about the topic at hand.

4. Leave a link only when you are sure the comment will not look spammy.

And as a last point, please stop using commenting scripts!
