The capital city of England and the United Kingdom, London, has a vast choice of world class tourist attractions, from the incredibly ancient to very recent additions. The majority of the visitor attractions are recognised all around the globe (examples include, Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament and the Tower of London). Amongst the recently created are the London Aquarium, Millennium Dome, Millennium Bridge and the London Eye.

The Merlin Entertainments London Eye (it’s full title), is more often referred to as, just, the London Eye or,occasionally, the Millennium Wheel (because of the fact that it was built as part of the Millennium celebrations). It was officially opened by the then British PM, Tony Blair, on the night of 31st of December however, unfortunately there was a number of technical issues therefore it was not opened to the public until March 2000. When first erected it was the world’s highest Ferris wheel being one hundred and thirty five metres high.

The huge wheel is situated in Jubilee Gardens on the South Bank of the River Thames peering down upon the Houses of Parliament below.
